Introducing the Amigo's House Isla Holbox Staff

Jessica was born in Mexico City. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Tourism Business administration. In 1996, she decided to move to Cancun where she began work in tourism in the Oasis Cancun hotel. In 1997, Jessica worked for Palace Resorts of Cancun and in ’98 began working for Dolphin Discovery Company of Cancun. Here she worked in a variety of departments, including the areas of reception, reservations, public relations and sales promotion. From 2002 till 2007, Jessica worked in such hotels as the JW Marriott and the Royal Resorts of Cancun in the capacity of concierge, guests’ services and front desk- reception staff. In 2007, along with her significant other, Fernando, Jessica moved to the Dominican Republic and spent two years working in the sales department of the Hotel Paradissus Punta Cana.

Fernando was born in Mexico City. He has always had interest in animals and biology. Most of his life has been dedicated to the investigation, observation and training of marine animals. In 1991, while still living in the greater México City area, his first job in this interesting field was at an adventure park called “Reino Adventuras” (adventure kingdom in English). In ’95 he decided to relocate to Cancun and ended up on Isla Mujeres working for four years with the dolphin experience program held on Isla Mujeres during those years. In 1999, Fernando had the opportunity to travel globally where he volunteered his time at different dolphin parks and zoos around the world studying the animals. In 2000, upon returning to Mexico, he went to work at the dolphin experience park in Puerto Adventuras in the Riviera Maya where he worked with all the different species of marine animals who called the park “home”. In 2007 along with his girlfriend, Jessica, he went for two years to work in the dolphin program “Dolphin Island” located in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

In spring 2009 Jessica and Fernando returned to Mexico, this time to the small secluded laid back sand bar island of Isla Holbox in the state of Q. Roo, studying the marine life in their natural habitat and administrating the “Casa Amigo’s” Holbox.

Fernando now offers a wonderful tour called Holbox Dolphin Encounter where you go out with him either early morning or in the afternoon and observe the dolphins in their natural habitat.
